Former Forks Officer Found Dead in Upper Nazareth

William Mills resigned from the Forks Township force after being accused of lying about an illness.

A former Forks Township policeman who resigned after being accused of lying about his grandmother's death and his own health problems has died.

William Mills was found dead at his home in Upper Nazareth on Friday, Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek said.

Lysek an autopsy is pending to confirm Mills' cause and manner of death.

Mills resigned last September after the township issued him a termination notice. He was due to have a hearing before he resigned.

Mills filed a federal lawsuit against the township earlier this year, saying Forks officials ruined his reputation by publicizing the allegations against him, and that he resigned to keep more information about him from being made public.
