Gunmen in Easton May Have Ties to Forks Crime

Police are investigating pair of robberies Saturday night in downtown Easton. Suspects may be similar to ones who committed crime in Forks Township.

Easton police are investigating a pair of armed robberies Saturday night in the city's downtown.

Police say a 54-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman were walking along the 100 block of N. Bank Street just before 10 p.m. when two men approached. One of them pointed a gun at the woman and took off with her purse.

According to police, the 54-year-old man tried to follow the robbers and one of them fired a shot at him. No injuries or property damage was reported.

The robbers were seen driving away headed south on Third Street toward Centre Square, police said.

While officers were investigating this robbery, another man came forward and said he'd been robbed at gunpoint in the first block of N. Bank Street. Police say the man who held him up -- taking his keys and other personal items -- matched the description of the gunman in the second robbery.

The first suspect is 6'1", a thin black male who was wearing a blue jacket with white sleeves and a winter hat.

The second suspect is a heavy-set black male, about 5'5'' and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Chris Miller at 610-250-6566.

Police say it's unclear whether this robbery is connected to any recent robberies in the city.

Police have been in touch with Forks Township authorities since the suspects match the description of men sought in the Tuesday holdup of Mel's Doggie Stand at 1504 Sullivan Trail, according to the Easton Express-Times.
