Palmer Man Attacked Girlfriend With Ice Cream, Police Say

Wiison Police charge Palmer Township man with assault after incident outside Bottom Dollar grocery store.

An argument over a cell phone Wednesday night led a Palmer Township man to hit his girlfriend on the head with a half-gallon of ice cream outside a Wilson supermarket, court records say.

The blow from the man, Robert Ambrose Dixon, 51, caused the woman to lose her balance and fall on the parking lot of the Bottom Dollar store at 2431 Butler St., the records say.

The woman also told police she suffered a cut to her right nostril during her struggle with Dixon in which he allegedly shoved and struck her and pulled her hair.

Police found the woman with a bloody nose when they arrived at the supermarket, according to a criminal complaint filed by Wilson Patrolman Joseph A. Nunes.

The woman told Nunes she and Dixon were arguing over the cell phone and at some point Dixon took it. He also took the groceries they just bought and started walking away.

He then hit her with the ice cream package and they struggled, she said.

Dixon, of 2323 Gruver St. in Palmer, was arraigned early Thursday by on-duty District Judge Robert Hawke of Lehigh Township on charges of simple assault and harassment.

He was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $8,000 bail.
