Man Hurt After Bike Crash in Stockertown

Nazareth man suffers leg injury in crash at Route 33/191 intersection in Stockertown Friday.

A Nazareth man suffered injuries Friday morning after his bicycle collided with a motor vehicle at the Route 191 intersection with Route 33, state police said.

State Police at Belfast said that Robert W. Markle, 32, of Nazareth suffered a leg injury of unknown severity when his bike collided on the left shoulder of the roadway in Stockertown.

The incident took place just after 7 a.m.

Markle was treated by Nazareth Ambulance and transported to Easton Hospital.

The driver was Michael J. Harkins, 41, of Jefferson Township, N.J. He was not injured.

Harkins was exiting Route 33 onto Route 191 when he struck Markle, who was riding against traffic on the left shoulder of the highway.

No charges were filed in the incident. The area has witnessed several accidents in the past month.
