Palmer Man Arrested for Scratching Ex-girlfriend

Forks Police arrest a Palmer man for assaulting his ex-girlfriend in her car just days after their break-up.

Two days after breaking up with his girlfriend of about a year, a man allegedly scratched the woman and took $30 from a cup holder while they were pulled over in her car, according to court records.

Andrew Paul Zima, 22, of 1205 Camelot Drive grabbed his ex-girlfriend Sunday night while in her car on Bushkill Drive in , causing a visible scratch about 5 inches long that caused minor bleeding on the left side of her neck, the records say.

The woman arrived at the shortly after 10pm -- about two and a half hours after the alleged incident. She told police Zima was her ex-boyfriend as of Friday. On Sunday night, they were “mutually together to talk.” She was driving her car, the records say.

The woman told police she and Zima began arguing. She pulled over to the side of Bushkill Drive,. Zima took $30 from a cup holder, began screaming at her and grabbed her by the jacket collar and scarf and was pulling on her.

Zima eventually released his grip, and she drove away without him, the records say.

Zima was arraigned Tuesday by of Palmer Township on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was taken to Northampton County Prison after failing to post $15,000 bail.
