Easton police are investigating a fatal shooting on the city's South Side Friday evening.
Police cordoned off the 100 block of W. St. Joseph Street, and had removed a body from a home there just after 9:30 p.m. Northampton County Coroner Zach Lysek was on the scene, and has ruled the death a homicide, police said.
According to police, officers were called to the scene at 5:45 p.m. for the report of gunfire, and found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police are looking for two men connected to the shooting.
They were seen running from the scene, heading "west on St. Joseph Street or south through the parking lot of neighboring businesses," a police news release said.
The men were both wearing dark clothing, one tall and thin, the other short. Police had no physical descriptions other than that they were possibly black males.
The shooting came just two hours before the 8 p.m. lighting of Easton's Peace Candle in Centre Square.
WFMZ reported that friends of the victim said he is a man known as Dje, who does disc jockey shows at local clubs.
Numerous people posted messages on his Facebook page Friday night.
"You would be the last I would've expected this to happen to," one of them read.
Several people gathered on the sidewalk along St. John Street to watch.
"It's sickening," said a woman walking her dog. "You don't feel safe anymore."
Police say the suspects knew the victim in this case. City police are investigating along with the coroner and the Northampton County district attorney.
