Man Threatened to Cut Wife's Head Off, Police Say

Joseph Zelinski, of Wilson, jailed after alleged assault with 10-inch knife.

A Wilson man is accused of threatening his wife with a 10-inch chef's knife Monday, saying he was he was going to kill her, “cut her up into pieces” and cut off her head, court records say.

Joseph A. Zelinski, 58, of 1902 Fairview Ave., was charged a few hours after the alleged incident with aggravated assault, simple assault and terroristic threats.

He was charged after his wife came to borough police headquarters to make a report about the alleged assault, according to a criminal complaint filed by borough Patrolman Dan Dieter.

She said Zelinski began arguing with her and at one point picked up the knife and made the threats about killing her.

She said she was trying to leave when Zelinski, still holding the knife, grabbed her right wrist, causing nail marks and redness. Dieter said he saw marks on her right wrist.

Zelinski was arraigned Monday night by on-duty District Judge Jackie Taschner of Palmer Township and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
