Palmer Car Wash Robbery Suspects Caught

Four suspects nabbed before they can rob Linden Street 7-Eleven in Bethlehem for the second time in a week. Police say a citizen's tip helps lead them to arrests.

Bethlehem Police believe they have made arrests that will bring an end to a recent rash of in the city and Palmer Township.

A tip provided by a citizen helped lead to the arrest of four suspects who were apparently in the process of making a second robbery attempt at the 7-Eleven at early this morning, according to the Bethlehem Police blog.

Police had asked for the public’s help after a string of robberies in the city and township that began early Saturday morning.

The suspects hit the Rudy's Car Wash in Palmer Township over the weekend.

The names of the suspects will be released after they are formally charged and arraigned, most likely later today, police said.

An officer on overnight business surveillance spotted a suspicious man near the convenience store at about 3 a.m., police said.

Patrol officers from the Fourth Platoon, the department’s Street Crimes Unit and detectives organized a perimeter around the store before uniformed officers were sent to approach, police said. The suspect ran.

During the chase, the man threw away a handgun and a bandana that are “consistent with ones” used during the previous robberies, police said.

Also, during the chase, officers observed a vehicle trying to leave the area, police said. The vehicle was stopped and a man and two women inside were detained.

“Through subsequent investigation by detectives, it was established that these individuals along with the male who fled on foot, were in the process of robbing the 7-Eleven Store at Linden Street and Macada Road,” police said. 

“Further investigation by detectives indicated that these individuals are involved in multiple other armed robberies in both Palmer Township and the City of Bethlehem.”

Police had said they were looking for those responsible for robberies at the 7-Elevens at and on Sunday; the 7-Eleven at early Saturday morning, and at the Rudy’s at 25th Street in Palmer Township just before midnight Saturday.
