Man Stole $133K From Dad, Police Say

Joseph Manos is accused of embezzling money from father's joint checking account.

Editors note: This story was originally published in the summer of 2013. The charges against Manos have since been withdrawn.

In 2011, Joseph Manos set up a joint checking account with his father, Thomas.

The plan, Joseph said, was to use the money to build an addition to his Palmer Township home so his parents could live with him as they entered their 80s.

Instead, Joseph Manos allegedly drained the account, stealing his father's money for personal use.

That's according to Palmer Township police, who charged Manos this week with embezzling more than $133,000 from his 80-year-old father.

Manos, 49, of the 2000 block of Fischer Road, is charged with theft by deception and theft by failure to make required disposition of funds.
