Palmer Police Finish New Evidence Room

A new evidence storage facility was one Police Chief Larry Palmer's list of upgrades for the police department.

Out with the old, in with the old.

The Palmer Police Department has a new evidence storage facility.

Police Chief Larry Palmer announced that the transfer of evidence from the old evidence rooms to the new evidence storage facility has been completed with tracking bar codes and logging of evidence continuing.

He said that Sgt. Michael Vangelo wrote the evidence collection and evidence and property control policies. Those policies were taught to all officers during a three-hour training session in February.

Palmer said the old evidence room is being converted to a new armory for storage, cleaning and maintenance of departmental firearms and ammunition.

The remainder of the evidence storage equipment installation was completed and the transfer of evidence was conducted utilizing The Beast software to computerize the evidence database for proper chain of custody and storage, the chief stated.

The chief detailed the evidence storage room in his February monthly report to the Board of Supervisors.
