Philly Man Charged with Prescription Forgery at Walgreens

A Philadelphia man tried to get Oxycodone and other drugs from Walgreens pharmacy in Palmer Township with fake prescriptions, according to police.

A Philadelphia man has been charged with trying to get real prescription drugs with fake prescriptions at .

On Feb. 2, April 15 and May 12, Michael Dell Leaphart, 32, apparently visited the Walgreens on William Penn Highway and forged the names of three doctors to obtain 30 mg of the pain killer Oxycodone, according to court records. He also attempted to acquire the antibiotic Amoxicillin and the antihistamine Promethazine.

A pharmacist called police after a prescription caught his attention because of the high dosage of drugs being prescribed. An investigation showed none of the doctors had written any prescriptions for Leaphart.

When apprehended by authorities, Leaphart first gave them the name "Michael Leadum." Then he gave the name "Michael Endous" and said he had no identification, according to police.

later discovered Leaphart's identity through a photo ID found in his shoe. Leaphart is charged with possession of a controlled substance by forgery, criminal attempt and providing false identification to authorities.

He was arraigned Saturday night before on-duty District Judge David Tidd in Lower Saucon Township and sent to Northampton County Prison, according to paperwork filed with District Justice Judge Jacqueline Taschner.

He posted $25,000 bail Tuesday morning.
