Police Chiefs Plan School Safety Meeting

Chiefs for Forks and Palmer townships and Easton are expected to meet with Easton Area school officials next week.

Police chiefs in Forks and Palmer townships have confirmed that they will meet with Easton Area School District officials next week to go over school safety precautions.

The meeting comes in the wake of the Newtown, CT, school shootings over a month ago and on the heels of a bomb threat at Easton Area Middle School this past week.

Forks Police Chief Greg Dorney confirmed the meeting during a break at Thursday night's Board of Supervisors meeting, saying that the bomb scare was an "eye opener."

Palmer told the Palmer Township Board of Supervisors Monday about the meeting.

"It's to review our planning," he said, "and consider anything we'd like changed at Palmer and Tracy elementary schools and Easton Area High School."
