Forks Police Chief: Thursday Shooting was Self-Inflicted and Fatal

Forks Township police chief reports about shooting in Forks Township Thursday night.

Forks Township Police Chief Greg Dorney said there was a shooting in Forks Township Thursday night and that it was "self-inflicted" and fatal.

Sirens blared out from the police and fire departments right before the Forks Township Board of Supervisors work session.

Dorney, who usually attends, was absent from the meeting.

He confirmed via email to Patch.com that there was a shooting.

Dorney said he was unable to provide any details at this time, but that the shooting posed no public safety issue.

The location of the shooting was on Old River Road and that the victim was taken to the hospital.

Dorney said that any further details would have to come from the coroner.
