Stockertown Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash

Police say matter continues to be investigated

Palmer Township Police have identified a Stockertown man as the victim involved in a deadly crash outside Palmer Park Mall Monday.

Chief Bruce Fretz identified 24-year-old Terry Wegfahrt as the driver of a motorcycle involved in the crash on Park Avenue just outside the Palmer Park Mall around 12:45pm. Wegfahrt’s vehicle was hit by a 2004 Nissan Quest attempting to turn into the mall. The name of the driver of the mini-van name is being withheld pending further investigation, but was identified as a 52-year-old Easton woman.

According to reports, Wegfahrt was driving his grey Honda motorcycle in the far right westbound lane of Park Avenue when he was struck by the mini-van driving eastbound on Park Avenue as it attempted to turn left into the mall. Wegfahrt was transported by Suburban Emergency Medical to Easton Hospital before being pronounced dead from blunt force trauma, Fretz said.

Police say it is not clear just how fast either vehicle was traveling at the time of the accident but the matter is under investigation. Possible charges to the driver are pending the outcome of a full investigation, Fretz added.

“We’re interviewing still to get more information from witness statements,” he said.
