Student Who Threatened Teacher Seeks Rehabilitation

An student charged with telling his teacher he was going to burn down her house with her inside waived his preliminary hearing Thursday, and his attorney said the teen is applying for a program for first-time offenders.

Trevor John Gilbert, 18, of 317 W. Lincoln St., Easton, had two of three charges against him dropped – harassment and disorderly conduct. But the most serious charge – terroristic threats – still stands.

His teacher, Lisa A. Moore, was at the court session before and agreed to the dropping of the two charges and Gilbert’s application into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program.

If Gilbert completes the ARD program, his criminal record will be expunged.

Neither Moore nor Gilbert’s attorney, Dwight Danser, had further comment.

Taschner told Gilbert she understood that he is in a different school and that his grades have improved. He answered yes to both statements.

A criminal complaint filed by Patrolman Tyson Unangst provides the following background:

Moore went to the Palmer police station around 4pm on Dec. 22 and told Unangst that around 10 that morning in classroom C109, Gilbert “was disciplined for behavior issues and became agitated and emotional.” Other students and another teacher were in the classroom.

Gilbert told her “that he will follow her home after school, and that the b---- is going to get it.”

He also told her, “I want you to f------ die and I’m going to burn your house down with you inside.”

Gilbert was removed from the classroom but still told her, “when you’re in hell, I’m going to beat the f--- out of you.”

Unangst contacted Gilbert’s mother, who brought him to the police station that night. Bail had been set at $2,500, which Gilbert eventually posted.
