Summer Youth Police Academy Details Announced

Forks and Palmer police departments will hold summer youth police academy from July 15-19.

First there was a cancellation. Then an announcement. And now the details.

The joint Summer Youth Police Academy now has a date.

The Forks Township Police Department announced Tuesday that it will team up with the Palmer Police Department to hold a Summer Youth Police Academy.

The event will take place from July 15-19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It's open to township children ages 11-14.

Applications and more detailed information will be available May 1 at both police stations.

The program and the annual Forks police bike derby were both scrapped due to manpower shortages.

But Forks Police Chief Greg Dorney announced last Thursday at the Board of Supervisors meeting that the youth academy was returning.
