'Tis the Season: Kohl's, Wal-Mart hit by Theft

There were three reported retail thefts at Kohl's between Dec. 12 and 18 including a Palmer Township woman who allegedly took $20 in jewelry.

Four retail thefts were reported at the Northampton Crossings shopping center in between Dec. 12 and 18, according to .

The Dec. 12 theft involved two Bangor women – Joan Waters, 21, and Crystal Stevens, 18, both of the 500 block of Market Street. Around 7:45 p.m., police were dispatched to for a report of a retail theft in progress.

The women fled the scene before police arrived but were later identified following an investigation, according to police.

The women were arraigned four days after the alleged theft took place in front of District Judge Joseph Barner. They were both charged with misdemeanor retail theft and released on recognizance, meaning the women signed a written agreement that says they will appear in court when required and will comply with the conditions of bail.

On Dec. 16, police responded to after loss prevention personnel stopped a juvenile female for allegedly concealing $452.17 worth of makeup in her purse.

The 17-year-old female, who is from and not named, was released to her parents. Charges are pending.

Another Bangor woman is facing retail theft charges after she allegedly hid merchandise in her purse on Dec. 17, according to police. Kohl's loss prevention staff kept Nicole Philhower, 30, in custody until police arrived. She was arraigned in front of Barner and charged with retail theft.

A Palmer Township woman allegedly concealed $20 worth of jewelry from Kohl's in her purse on Dec. 18, according to police. The store's loss prevention staff stopped Diana Garcia, 48, before she was able to leave the store. She was cited for retail theft and released.
