Forks Interviews Supervisor Candidates

The Forks Township Board of Supervisors will start reviewing candidates at Thursday's worksession.

The candidates have been counted.

And Forks Township Supervisors Chairman Erik Chuss said there are five nominees to replace Supervisor David Billings, who resigned for a job transfer out of state.

Chuss sent an email response to Palmer-Forks Patch Monday night saying that the township received five applicants who will be considered to fill the remaining five months of Billings' term this year.

Chuss said the board expects to conduct two or three interviews at its worksession Thursday night with the remaining candidates being interviewed at next Thursday's Board of Supervisors meeting.

"We anticipate nominating and voting for the candidate during next Thursday's meeting," Chuss said. "The applicants will be identified during the meeting once their interview times are confirmed."

The due date for applications was Monday.

Billings announced in a letter to Palmer-Forks Patch that he was resigning as part of a job transfer to another state.

Meanwhile, both Democratic and Republican parties are eligible to submit a candidate to run for election. Billings is a Republican.

The winner would fulfill the remaining 2014 and 2015 years of Billings' term.
