Forks Announces Budget Schedule

Forks Township officials are working on the 2013 municipal budget.

It's that time of the year again -- municipal budget season.

And Forks Township officials are getting a jump out of the gates.

Last week, at its Board of Supervisors work session, township officials started going through line items on spending for each municipal department.

Finance Director Jim Farley has outlined a calendar for the remaining sessions throughout the process:

  • Nov. 1 -- Submission of budget to Board of Supervisors.
  • Nov. 15 -- Tentative adoption by supervisors.

"This gives us two opportunities to discuss the budget," Farley said. "It gives us enough time to make adjustments."

On Dec. 20, supervisors are expected to vote on the budget.

Farley said time could be set aside at the supervisors' Oct. 18 meeting if corrections need to be made. That meeting would start at 6 p.m., an hour before the 7 p.m. regular meeting.

Farley said that the budget would be made available to the public and posted on the township's website.
