Forks' new Township Manager to Start by mid-April

A candidate had accepted an offer from Forks Township to be its new manager.

Speaking at a "State of Forks Township" luncheon at the today, Board of Supervisors Chairman Erik Chuss said that a candidate accepted an offer in early March and that a background check and other administrative work is now being done before the releasing the name.

"We were hoping to announce this at our township meeting Thursday, but now it won't be until the first week in April," Chuss said.

Chuss told the group of area business members at the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce-sponsored luncheon that the board "spent a lot of time soliciting candidates, narrowed the field to a small group and then conducted phone interviews before deciding on a candidate."

He said once the candidate is named in early April, the person will have to give two weeks notice at his/her current job before starting in Forks Township.

The township stopped taking applications in late January and had received 50 resumes for the position, Chuss said.

"We had a lot of outstanding candidates," Chuss said.

Officials have said the job could pay $100,000 or more.

Township Manager in December to take a job closer to his home. He left Forks for Hilltown Township in Bucks County, where he will earn $100,000.

The has not been given yet. Schnaedter was making about $85,000 at the time he left for a salary of $100,000.
