Highest Paid in Forks: Patrolman Edges Police Chief

Forks Township patrolman made more money than police chief in 2012 in becoming township's top wage earner, township salary records reveal.

The township manager? Nope.

The police chief? Close.

The answer is a patrolman in the Forks Township Police Department.

Forks Township salary information obtained by Patch.com indicates that Patrolman Craig Marshall earned $89,520.53 in 2012, the most among any township employee.

In fact, all of the township's Top 10 wage earners work in the police department, records indicate.

Marshall edged Police Chief Greg Dorney, who earned $88,561.28.

What put Marshall -- who earned $32.16 an hour -- over the top, though, was overtime. He received $18,686.58 in overtime pay. Dorney, as department manager, is exempt from earning overtime.

Corporal Shawn Hummer came in a close third to Dorney, earning $88,248.15 at a rate of $34.52 an hour. He got $13,485.29 in overtime.

Fourth on the list was Criminal Investigator Joseph Effting. He made $84,531.82 at an hourly rate of $33.51 with overtime of $12,662.48.

Fifth was Patrolman Brandon Schippers, who earned $83,969.30 at an hourly rate of $32.16. He made $15,264.40 in overtime in 2012.

The rest of the Top 10 are as follows:

  • Corporal Jack Dressler -- $83,829.52 salary, $34.52 hourly rate, $9,315.67 overtime.
  • Patrolman T. Steven Nicholson -- $83,343.85 salary, $32.16 hourly rate, $11,349.82 overtime.
  • Captain Richard Grifo -- $82,537.55, $36.62 hourly, $3,132.08 overtime.
  • Corporal John Renner -- $80,311.94, $34.52 hourly, $7,811.44 overtime.
  • Criminal Investigator Philomena Sandt -- $79,513.82, $33.51 hourly, $$7,792.29 overtime.

The salary information was provided by Human Resources Director Barbara Bartek through Township Manager John Cornell.
