Forks Reveals Supervisor Candidates

There are seven candidates interested in becoming a Forks Township supervisor.

So who will replace Forks Township Supervisor David Billings?

The Forks Township Board of Supervisors began that process at Thursday night's worksession, revealing seven candidates who are interested in the job and interviewing four of them.

The candidates include former Supervisors Bonnie Nicholas, David Hoff and Ritchey Ricci along with primary election candidate Blandine Mballa-Fonkeu, Edwin Moore, Jeanne Coy and James English.

Supervisors Chairman Erik Chuss had originally told Patch.com that there were five candidates, but two applicants — English and Coy — had met the Monday filing deadline but their paperwork had been misplaced.

The board interviewed Nicholas, Hoff, Coy and Fonkeu Thursday night and will meet with the other three candidates next Thursday night before choosing a candidate.

Chuss explained the process to each candidate, stating that if the board doesn't come up with an option, then the vacancy board will weigh in. That might draw interest if Hoff is a finalist since he heads the vacancy board.

The candidate would complete the final five months of Billings' term this year.

Billings announced in a letter to Palmer-Forks Patch that he was resigning as part of a job transfer to another state.

Meanwhile, both Democratic and Republican parties are eligible to submit a candidate to run for election. Billings is a Republican.

The winner would fulfill the remaining 2014 and 2015 years of Billings' term.

Chuss and Supervisors Dan Martyak, Bob Egolf and John O'Neil interviewed the four candidates.
