Forks Supervisor Candidate Applications Due

Monday is the deadline for candidates to apply to fill a vacancy on the Forks Township Board of Supervisors.

Attention Forks Township residents: Monday is the deadline to submit your candidacy for supervisor.

With the June 25th resignation of Supervisor David Billings, the Board of Supervisors has 30 days to appoint a replacement, Township Manager John Cornell said.

Billings announced in a letter to Palmer-Forks Patch that he was resigning as part of a job transfer to another state.

The candidates will be forwarded to the supervisors who will then begin the interview process at their Thursday worksession meeting.

The board is then expected to announce an appointment at its July 18 monthly meeting.

Cornell said there is another twist this year, since it's an election year.

He said that the candidate chosen as supervisor could only serve until the end of the year and woud have to run for election in November.

Meanwhile, both Democratic and Republican parties are eligible to submit a candidate to run for election. Billings is a Republican.

The winner would fulfill the remaining 2014 and 2015 years of Billings' term.
