Forks Township Manager Back on the Job

John Cornell resumes position as Forks Township's manager after his recovery from emergency triple bypass surgery.

He's back!

Forks Township Manager is back on the job after being out of action for a month due to emergency triple bypass surgery.

"I'm feeling great," Cornell said before Thursday night's Board of Supervisors meeting. "The staff did a great job of keeping everything running. I'm happy to be back."

Supervisors Chairman Erik Chuss began the meeting by welcoming Cornell back into the fold. Cornell resumed township duties last Thursday, but last night was his first supervisors meeting.

"It's fantastic having you back," Chuss said as the board and township department heads applauded the .

Cornell thanked everyone during the meeting for holding down the fort in his absence.

"The staff picked up the ball and ran with it," he said.

Cornell began his job in early April but experienced illness a month into his tenure. The township had to cancel a few Meet and Greet sessions, which Cornell hopes can be rescheduled sometime this summer.

Township Supervisors David Billings and Robert Egolf, both in email statements over the past week, said they were delighted to have Cornell back.

"The township staff has done a wonderful job during John's absence," Billings said. "I am very glad John is back to work."

Cornell, 55, of Souderton was chosen among 50 candidates for the post. He earns $92,000 annually plus a $200 car stipend.

"I'm very pleased that John is well and back in his Forks manager's
office," Egolf said. "John is vitally important to the effective and efficient
operation of the township."

"We have many huge projects occurring at various stages --the amphitheater, the traffic signal at Meco, the new public works facility, and the new police contract," he said.
