Is it Time to Sell State Stores?

State Rep. Joe Emrick is asking for your opinion about the possible sell-off of state-run liquor stores.

On Wednesday, July 27, the House Liquor Control Committee will hold the first in a series of public meetings about privatizing the sale of spirits.

For those born and raised in Pennsylvania, there’s a little bit of a culture shock to walk into a convenience store in another state and see liquor on the shelves.

We are used to the state-run liquor store, but State House Majority Leader Mike Turazi (R-Allegheny) recently introduced a bill that would privatize the sale of liquor.

In an email blast last week, State Rep. Joe Emrick (R-137) asked residents to give their opinion, either for or against the sale of state stores.
