Notebook: Palmer Names Tax Collector

Business Privilege Tax Collector appointed for Palmer Township.

Now that the new year has started, Palmer Township has moved to the business of running township business.

At its recent Board of Supervisors meeting, township officials took care of several agenda and housekeeping items.

  • Nancy Mendres was appointed as the Business Privilege Tax Collector for 2013. Supervisors Chairman Dave Colver said Mendres held the same position in 2012.
  • Easton Suburban Water Authority was granted an extension of time for improvements to June 30. The supervisors signed off on the letter that was submitted by ESWA to Solicitor Charles Bruno.
  • ESWA was also working this past week on a water main upgrade on Butternut Lane, according to Public Safety Director Tom Adams.
  • Police Chief Larry Palmer said four officers recently attended a five-day training session. He also said that the department's K-9 dog assisted in a bomb scare at Easton Area Middle School last week.
