Palmer Bike Path Now Open to Public

Portion of Palmer Township bike path passes state inspection.

A portion of the Palmer Township bike path, closed for some time, is now open for recreational use, just in time for the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Palmer Township officials announced Friday that the bike path passed an official inspection Thursday by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Public Safety Director Tom Adams reported.

He said the Bushkill Bike Path – Phase II is officially open from Northwood Avenue to the Easton Academy area near Edgewood Ave.

Adams said that PennDOT reviewed the two state road crossings and DCNR did a final walk-through of the path.

The bike path section has been closed since Hurricane Sandy hit the Lehigh Valley. The section endured Sandy's wrath in late October, causing major tree damage along the Lehigh River.
