Palmer 'Looks Like a Dump,' Resident Says

Palmer Township resident Karen Miller appeared before the Board of Supervisors to complain about numerous eyesores.

Karen Miller doesn't like what she sees around Palmer Township.

The former planning commission member sees trailers on driveways and other things that she considers eyesores.

"The township has never looked worse," Miller told the Board of Supervisors at a meeting last month. "We're starting to look like a dump."

Miller called on supervisors to update the township's zoning laws.

"Something has to be done," she said. "People are ignoring our laws."

Miller complained to the board specifically about an eyesore around her Sheridan Road home after some utility work was done, leaving branches in the wake.

Township Manager Christopher Christman was able to get those branches removed for Miller, but said there were some issues because some of the eyesores are on private property.

"It comes down to whether supervisors want to make our ordinances more restrictive," he said.

Miller said she was embarrassed about what she sees looking outside her deck.

"We all take great pride in our property," she stated.

Supervisor K. Michael Mitchell offered to take a look around.

Supervisor Ann-Marie Panella had stated the same thing last year in noticing how she was seeing too many vehicles and storage sheds on driveways and plantation that was growing wildly and blocking road views.
