Palmer Praises Miracle League Field

Palmer Township supervisors praise teamwork it took to build Miracle League field, which makes debut Sunday.

"If you build it, they will come."

It was the catch phrase in the movie "Field of Dreams" and it will ring a similar bell Sunday when the unveils its new field in Palmer Township.

The Palmer Township Board of Supervisors praised the teamwork it took to build the field -- and the marvel that it is -- at Tuesday night's meeting.

Two supervisors -- Dave Colver and Bob Lammi -- both were instrumental in the project coming to life.

Lammi, who serves on the Miracle League's board of directors, brought the concept to the supervisors while Colver's construction company did the bulk of the work at the site.

A is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Charles Chrin Community Center complex.

Colver said he anticipates possibly 1,000 people attending the ceremony.

"It's Miracle League weekend," Colver said Tuesday night. "You've got to come see this place. It's unbelievable."

"When the kids see this field, it's going to knock their socks off," Colver said. "It has everything, from concessions to a giant video board."

Lammi publicly thanked Colver for his efforts.

"I've never seen someone work on a project like he can," Lammi said of Colver. "He is someone with tremendous respect in the community. I wanted to see the facility built in the township. It was in the back of my mind. I knew Dave would be there. I have a tremendous amount of confidence in him."

"I'm proud as heck to have it here," Colver said. "It came out better than I thought. We had the plans but made everything better."

"I'm so glad it ended up in Palmer," Colver said. What a perfect little spot. It's something we can really be proud of."
