Palmer Sets Police Department Rates

If you need a Palmer Township police escort or officer for an event, it's going to cost you.

Patrols at the Palmer Park Mall. Watches at Tracy Elementary School. School events.

If you need the Palmer Police Department for any of these, it's going to cost you.

The Board of Supervisors has set the rates for police department services for 2013, approving a motion at its meeting Monday.

"These are the rates we charge for someone using our services," Supervisors Chairman Dave Colver said.

The fees are:

  • $57 an hour.
  • An additional $13 an hour if a police car is needed.
  • $40 an hour for part-time morning and afternoon patrols at Tracy Elementary School.

"The rates reflect the on-duty hours," Police Chief Larry Palmer said. "Others cover overtime. We're not making any on this — we're breaking even."
