Palmer Supervisor Lammi Won't Seek Re-Election

Palmer Township Supervisor Bob Lammi has announced that he won't seek re-election next year.

Lammi sent out a press release Wednesday morning announcing the decision. He has served on the Board of Supervisors for the past 15 years.

"I have made the very difficult decision to end my public service career at the end of 2013," Lammi said in the release. "Therefore, I will not seek re-election to the position of supervisor in this year's campaign."

Lammi has been in public service for Palmer Township for 37 years.

He was an appointed member of the planning commission for 14 years and a member of the Palmer Municipal Fire Department for 17 years.

Supervisors Chairman Dave Colver, a close friend of Lammi, said Wednesday that he had known of Lammi's plans not to seek another six-year term.

Supervisor K. Michael Mitchell is also up for re-election this year on the five-member board.

Colver said he did not know of any candidates interested in running for office.

Colver said Lammi first served on the supervisors board in the early 1990s, but then left for a job in Texas before returning to the board a dozen years ago.

"He's got a wealth of knowledge about the township," Colver said. "As far as our planning, that's going to be big shoes to fill. I'm definitely going to miss him."

Lammi was also instrumental in bringing a Miracle League field to the township.

"It is very difficult to give up something you love doing, but there is a time for everything and this is the time for me to leave and let someone else enjoy governing this wonderful township," he said.
