Palmer Supervisor Receives High State Honor

Palmer Township Supervisor Ann-Marie Panella recognized as 2012 outstanding elected Democratic woman for Lehigh and Northampton counties.

Palmer Township Supervisor Ann-Marie Panella has received an award as the outstanding elected Democratic woman in Northampton and Lehigh counties for 2012.

Panella was honored recently at a dinner with the award from the Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women.

"It went very well," Panella said. "It was a very nice thing to be honored as one of the women throughout the state. I was suprised."

Panella received a certificate that honored her for "making significant contributions to District Eight and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, supporting the Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women and the Democratic Party and consistently aiding other Democratic women seeking office."

She was presented with the award at a Nov. 20 dinner in Camp Hill.

A woman was recognized in each of the federation's 18 districts. A nominee was selected from the local Democratic Women's Club.

"I just do what I believe in," said Panella, director of human resources for the Children's Home in Easton. "I believe in standing up for children and senior citizens."
