Palmer Township Supervisors Award Tax Appeal

The made some quick decisions in a short meeting Monday night.

• The supervisors appointed Nancy Mendres as the township's Business Privilege Tax Collector.

"She's a not a new person," Supervisors Chairman said. "This is a housekeeping issue. The person wasn't approved in January. She's been there. We had just missed it on the agenda."

• The supervisors approved a motion to amend the township's recycling and refuse ordinance.

Solicitor Charles Bruno asked for the motion so he could establish consistency with the state Department of Environmental Protection regarding a performance grant and for authorization to draft an ordinance to that effect.

• The supervisors were notified about the Daryanani tax assessment appeal in which Daryanani will get a refund of $338.67.

"There's nothing special there," Colver said.

Bruno said Daryanani will also receive a reduced assessment value to 31.9 percent.

• Township Manager Christopher Christman, in his report, said that a Lafayette College professor Ruggles has asked about some students serving as interns under Public Utilities Director Paul Hosking.

The students would help the sewer department update its system by mapping and scanning.

Supervisor Robert Smith did not attend the meeting.
