Palmer Township officials have announced that they will take debris from Hurricane Sandy.

The township has a notice posted on its website informing residents that with extensive damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, the yard waste facility on Berk Street is open 24 hours a day for people to dump debris.

There is no fee charged as well.

Township officials said this will remain in effect until further notice.

Palmer Township suffered severe damage from the storm with many people still without power.

Most businesses, including the Palmer Park Mall, were closed since the storm arrived Monday night.

Palmer schools, part of the Easton Area School District, were also closed all week.
