While Rendell was in office, Callahan served for two years as the president of the Pennsylvania Municipal League and was appointed to the statewide Ben Franklin Technology Board, which created the first keystone innovation zone in South Bethlehem.

Callahan is one of three Democrats running for the party’s nomination for Northampton County executive. The others are County Councilman Lamont McClure and former County Executive Glenn Reibman.

Bangor Mayor John Brown is the only Republican to enter the race.
