Route 33 Interchange Moving Forward

The original plan called for the Route 33 Interchange project, which will provide an exit for Palmer Township, to be completed by next December.

Construction was expected to begin in October and Palmer officials were anticipating that the interchange could create more than 5,000 jobs in the township with all the industrial/commercial/retail built around it.

Well, the calendar keeps flying by and even officials in neighboring Forks Township recently wondered what was up with the project.

Palmer Township Supervisors Chairman Dave Colver, when asked about the Route 33 Interchange status by Patch.com, provided an update.

Colver said that agreements are pretty well finalized and the bond sale is scheduled for Jan. 31.

He said construction is scheduled for spring for start of the interchange.

Two different developers are working on plans for submission to the township, Colver said. One of them was in for a sketch plan before the township's planning commission last month.

"I would expect actual plans to hit the township by early spring," Colver said.

He anticipated that completion of the Route 33 interchange is slated for spring 2014.
