Sausage Maker Moving to Forks?

Bethlehem company wants to construct facility on Mort Drive in Forks Township.

One interesting item on the Forks Township workshop agenda last week was bound to make everyone hungry.

The Board of Supervisors heard a proposal that would bring a sausage maker to the township.

Zoning officer Timothy Weis said Bethlehem Sausage Works wants to build an 18,255-square-foot facility at Mort Drive and Kuebler Road in the township.

The smoked-meat shop also wants to add 15,000 square feet later on. The company would hire 25 to 30 people, Weis said in a story in the Allentown Morning Call.

The Planning Commission has approved the proposal, Weis said, and "It's a clean plan as far as we're concerned."

Township supervisors will vote on the company's plans Sept. 19.

If the plans are approved, the company could break ground this fall, Weis said.
