Local Productions Take Home Three Freddys
Two students and Wilson Area High School go home with honors
The State Theatre Center for the Arts 2011 Freddy Awards was a spectacle to behold with singing and dance performances in Easton tonight.
Students from several area high schools were nominated for the 21 category awards and two Easton area students and Wilson Area High School went home with honors.
Going home with the Freddy for Outstanding Performance by a Featured Female Ensemble Member was Lauren Albers of Notre Dame High School as “Grandma Rosie” in “The Wedding Singer”.

Winning in the Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role category was Abdul Sesay, Jr. of Wilson Area High School as “William Barfee” in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”.
Winning in the category for Outstanding Overall Production by a Smaller School was Wilson Area High School for their performance of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”.

Started in 2003 by the State Theatre Center for the Arts, the annual awards show features performances from high school students from throughout Lehigh, Northampton counties, PA and Warren County, NJ.
The award is named after J “Fred” Osterstock who managed the theatre from 1936 until his death in 1957.

The Vic Kumma Award for Outstanding Solo Vocal Performance (The Vic Kumma Award is named after Vic Kumma, a Freddy Awards coordinator, house manager and director of volunteers. Kumma died in 2008 from cancer.)
