The State Theatre's Freddy Awards have been nominated for their fifth Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award.

The nomination is for the 2012 production of the local high school musical award show. That was the year of "Fred X," a 10th anniversary celebration.

The Freddy Awards took home mid-Atlantic Emmys in 2005 and 2011.

The show has also won six Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Awards, including the 2008 Award for Outstanding Television Program Designed for Children, and two Associated Press Awards for Public Affairs.

The Freddies weren't the only local broadcast up for awards: Bethlehem's Jamie Karpovich was nominated for her role as host of RCN-TV's Save the Kales, the vegan cooking/lifestyle show.

WFMZ, which was nominated for a number of news awards, was also recognized for its show The Peak, specifically its segment  “Laughing at My Nightmare," which focused on Shane Burcaw, a young blogger with a fatal illness.

The awards will be presented Sept. 7 in Philadelphia.
