Jimmy Carter to Speak at Lafayette April 22

Lafayette College will present a lecture by former President Jimmy Carter in April.

Former President Jimmy Carter is coming to Lafayette College in April, the school announced Tuesday.

Carter's Monday, April 22 address will inaugurate the college’s Robert and Margaret Pastor Annual Lecture Series in International Affairs.

He will be the second major political figure to speak at the college this spring. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is due to give Lafayette's annual Lives of Liberty lecture later this year.

Their speeches follow ones from Vice President Joe Biden last May, and former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in 2011.

Winner of the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize, Carter will speak at 4 p.m. about his work on behalf of human rights, democracy and peace at the Carter Center, which he founded in 1982.

Information on ticketing for the event will be announced when details are finalized.

The lecture series is named for Lafayette graduate Robert Pastor, a professor of international relations and director of the Center for North American Studies and the Center for Democracy and Election Management at American University.
