Study Ranks Easton's School Buildings

Middle School's condition is "excellent," while Palmer Elementary is "poor."

Take a bow, . You too, .

As for , tough break. But it's been almost 60 years.

The study lists a "sample plan" for renovations/construction at the schools that would cost $73 million over the next seven years. The most expensive proposal: building a new school on the existing Palmer site, to the tune of $24.6 million.

It looks into the district's future and finds schools that are rapidly filling up; according to data from the state Department of Education, the district's enrollment will grow by 21 percent between the next school year and the 2019-2020 school year.

The condition rankings shouldn't be that surprising: while newer -- or newly renovated -- buildings like March and and the middle school were at the top of the list, older schools like Palmer (built in 1953, and last renovated in 1979) wound up at the bottom.

Actually, Palmer was the only school that the study -- done by D'Huy Engineering -- rated as "poor." , and elementary schools were in fair condition; , , and were listed as "good."
