Easton Area High School needs a new boy's basketball coach.

Jim Hutnik, who has coached the team for the last eight years, resigned Tuesday afternoon, according to athletic director Jim Pokrivsak.

"I wish coach the best of luck in the future," Pokrivsak said. "He has brought a lot of great deal of success and winning to the program."

Hutnik told the Morning Call's Keith Groller that he'd been considering the move for some time.

"The dynamics of the sport and the dynamics of the league and the dynamics of Easton High School have all changed a lot," he sauid. When you sat down and evaluated everything, it just seemed like the right time to resign."

Hutnik's accomplishments as coach include a 24-0 regular season in 2007, 157 wins overall and a number of district and conference titles. Prior to coaching for Easton, he was the head coach for Bethlehem Catholic's boy's basketball team.

Hutnik, a retired American Government teacher at Easton, is also a golf coach for Lafayette College, his alma mater.
