Beer Will Pour Again at Forks Community Days

Forks Township Community Days will have a beer tent for the third straight year.

Got beer?

Forks Township Community Days will for the third straight year as the beer tent will return once again.

Last year, officials worried that allowing a beer tent with roving access for patrons to carry their beer around the fairgrounds at Forks Community Park would cause rowdiness and drunkenness.

Not so.

Brian Lokitis, who runs Forks Community Days, had appeared before the Forks Township Board of Supervisors to plead his case for the beer tent. Proceeds from beer sales go to offset expenses from the Business and Commerce Association of Forks Township.

"We request to have it again in the same format," Lokitis asked supervisors a few months back. "I think it went very well and that we didn't have any incidents."

Lokitis said his statement was confirmed by Police Chief Greg Dorney, who Lokitis works with each year to ensure that safety measures are in place.

"There were no alcohol-related incidents," Dorney said.

Forks Community Days is Sept. 21-22.
