Forks Bike Derby A Success

Forks Township Police Chief Greg Dorney reports turnout for June event was highest ever.

Forks Township Police Chief wasn't spinning his wheels when he talked about the recent annual put on by his police department.

"It was a huge success," Dorney informed township officials at a recent Board of Supervisors meeting.

The June event at Forks Community Park drew 123 youths, the chief said, and 77 new bike helmets were handed out.

"We hope to have much better-educated and safer youths now," Dorney said.

The event had children pedaling on their bikes through an obstacle course, getting fitted for new bike helmets and receiving certificates for a job well done.
