See Perseid Meteor Shower Over the Delaware River

Go for a nighttime paddle on the Delaware River to see the Perseid Meteor Shower

Staff at Delaware Canal State Park will offer a late night paddle program to view the Perseid Meteor Shower on Saturday Aug. 11 from 10 pm to 2 am at the Giving Pond Recreation Area in Upper Black Eddy.

The Perseid Meteor Shower is well-suited to families and is one of the most easily viewable, with averages of 50-60 meteors per hour. Participants in this program will begin with boating basics and a nighttime tour of Giving Pond, then settle back to watch for meteors for a few hours.

A $20 donation is requested per person and includes the use of a boat, paddles and life jackets. Drinks and snacks will be provided. Family discounts are available. The program will be canceled in the event of rainy or persistently overcast conditions.
