School buses were delayed after a bomb scare at Easton Area Middle School Monday afternoon.
A bomb scare was reported at Easton Area Middle School Monday afternoon. School officials and authorities confirmed that a bomb scare was reported at the 5-8 grades school, delaying school buses at least 20 minutes at the end of the school day. The bomb scare took place in the 5th and 6th grade building, sources said. Police from Forks and Palmer townships and Wilson and a Northampton County rescue unit responded. A Forks Township fire truck and Suburban EMS vehicle was also at the scene. The Easton Area School District issued alerts about the bomb scare and informed parents at neighboring Shawnee Elementary School that school buses were delayed from "an incident at the middle school." For the sixth time this year, a bomb threat was called into Easton Area High School.
Easton Area High School was briefly evacuated Monday afternoon after someone called in a bomb threat. It was the sixth such threat made this year, and -- as in the past -- a search of the building revealed no explosives. Students and staff members left the building at 1:24 p.m. and were allowed back inside within 10 minutes, according to a district news release.

Man Who Caused Stockertown Bomb Scare Sentenced.
Robert Perry, convicted of charges relating to a bomb scare in Stockertown last April, was sentenced this week to state prison. The bizarre cache in Perry's car found during the April incident included a box of rocks that tripped radiation meters, pills, three Keystone Light beer cans (two empty and one half-full) and a loaded .50-caliber Dragon Slayer compressed air rifle, according to court records. The rocks were later found to be safe after a bomb squad investigated. Stockertown's Main Street was shut down during the incident and three homes were evacuated. 7:56 a.m. UPDATE: Main Street in Stockertown has been reopened to traffic following a bomb scare early this morning. Police have not yet released details of the incident. A possible "dirty bomb" has been found on Main Street in Stockertown, according to police radio reports. Reports say multiple law enforcement agencies are responding to a "serious incident" and homes are being evacuated as of 6 a.m. Sunday.
