What's on the Agenda? Long-Range Forks Financial Plan

Forks Township Board of Supervisors to discuss financial future at meeting Thursday night.

The future may be arriving Thursday night. Forks Township's Board of Supervisors will hold their monthly meeting Thursday night with discussion and scheduling of a long-range financial plan topping the agenda. The meeting is also expected to include a presentation by members of the Business and Commerce Association of Forks Township about its 2013 goals and objectives. BCAF will also discuss its pitch for a beer tent and a new fireworks provider for the annual Community Days in mid-September. Also on the agenda are an employee assistance program, an open space grant application and the Bushkill Stream Conservancy besides department head reports. Hercules Cement Receives Energy Conservation Award

As part of its recognition for a conservation award, Hercules Cement Company donated $10,000 -- provided by EnerNOC Inc. -- to the Bushkill Stream Conservancy and the Children's Home of Easton.

Hercules Cement Company on Jan. 18 was named a recipient of a 2012 Keystone State Energy Conservation Award for Leadership in Energy Management. The award is sponsored by EnerNOC Inc., a provider of energy management applications and services, and recognizes Pennsylvania organizations that demonstrate a unique commitment to helping electric grid reliability, according to a press release. Winners of the Keystone Award, the press release adds, demonstrated the highest levels of load reduction commitment and performance in a demand response program developed by their local utility, PPL Electric Utilities. Forks Makes $600 Donation to Conservancy

Money is going to charity toward the Bushkill Stream Conservancy.

Forks Township officials are very charitable. At a recent Board of Supervisors meeting, officials voted to donate $600 (from the general fund) to the Bushkill Stream Conservancy. The township has made a similar donation the past couple of years. Supervisor Robert Egolf is vice president of the organization. Supervisor John O'Neil asked Finance Director Jim Farley "can we afford 600 dollars?" Farley responded "yes." Supervisor David Billings expressed concern that this year Forks Township has donated over $10,000 to charity for the Miracle League and its new field for children with disabilities in neighboring Palmer Township.
