Three Dwelling Fires Sparked Forks Fire Calls

Forks Township handled three dwelling fires and a structure fire, according to recent fire department report.

The Forks Township Fire Department got a breather for March compared with the number of fire calls in February. But the department still was busy, handling three dwelling fires and a structure fire. After responding to 62 calls in February, March's workload fell to 22 calls, Fire Chief Chuck Chapman reported. The department handled 29 calls in January and 35 calls in December. For March, the calls took 249.84 manpower hours over 20.31 hours of time and involved the use of 49 units, the report states. The calls included: Forks also handled an odor investigation in Palmer Township and a dwelling fire and a brush fire in Stockertown. Home Garage Fire Highlights Forks Fire Calls

The Forks Fire Department handled 62 calls in February, more than double than in January.

February was one hectic month for the Forks Township Fire Department. After starting the year with 29 calls in January, February's workload was more than double that, Fire Chief Chuck Chapman reported. Chapman said his department 62 calls for the month, including one dwelling fire where the garage of a home was destroyed. The department handled 35 calls in December and 37 in November. For February, the calls took 504.22 manpower hours over 55.66 hours of time and involved the use of 62 units, the report states. The calls included: Forks also handled an odor investigation in Palmer Township, a dwelling fire in Plainfield Township and a pole fire and assisted police in Stockertown.

Bomb Threat, House Fire Highlighted Forks Fire Calls

Forks Township Fire Department handled 29 calls in January.

The Forks Township Fire Department eased into the new year after having a hectic 2012. Fire Chief Chuck Chapman reported that his department handled 29 calls for January. The department handled 35 calls in December and 37 in November. For December, the calls took 396.95 manpower hours over 32.83 hours of time and involved the use of 57 units, the report states. The calls included: Forks also handled a vehicle fire in Palmer Township, a dwelling fire in Plainfield Township, a CO alarm in Tatamy and a Hazmat spill/leak in Upper Mount Bethel. Forks House Blaze Suspicious, Fire Marshal Says

Forks Township Fire Marshal Tim Weis says fire last week remains under investigation.

The fire that destroyed a Forks Township home under construction last week has been deemed suspicious. Forks Township Fire Marshal Tim Weis said the fire at 1450 Fox Run Road off Mittman Road last Tuesday is "obviously suspicious." Weis said that the fire is still under investigation and that he is "following some leads." The fire broke out around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and had burned to the ground by 8 p.m. See video here. Watch firefighters from Forks Township and area fire departments battle a blaze that destroyed the garage of a Forks home Thursday night. Fire Chief Charles Chapman said the fire on 40 Clarendon Drive was deemed accidental and started in the laundry room. He said the fire is still under investigation to determine the exact cause. Two people were displaced after the home suffered heavy smoke damage. About 50 firefighters responded to the fire.

Fire Heavily Damages Home in Forks [Update]

Two people displaced after home suffers heavy smoke damage in Forks Township Thursday night.

A fast-moving fire ripped through the garage of a Forks Township home Thursday night, destroying a car and displacing the two people who lived in the house. Fire Chief Charles Chapman said the fire on 40 Clarendon Drive was deemed accidental and started in the laundry room. He said the fire is still under investigation to determine the exact cause. Forks Fire Calls Dipped in December

Forks Township Fire Department handled 398 calls for 2012.

Santa Claus was very good to the Forks Township Fire Department in December. Fire Chief Chuck Chapman reported that his department handled 35 calls for the month, a slight dip from 37 in November. The department handled 31 calls for September, 25 in August and 36 in July. With Hurricane Sandy, the department handled 63 calls in October. For December, the calls took 369.89 manpower hours over 50.48 hours of time and involved the use of 66 units, the report states. The calls included: Forks also handled a vehicle accident in Palmer Township and five calls in Stockertown, including one call each for wires down, a dumpster fire, a structure fire, traffic control and a vehicle fire. Two Injured in Forks Township Crash

Two people were injured in a crash late Monday afternoon along Bushkill Drive, authorities said. The Forks Township police and fire departments along with Suburban EMS responded to the crash at the corner of Bushkill Drive and Northwood Avenue near Frick Transfer. An alert stated that there was an entrapment in one of the vehicles -- a red minivan -- and Forks Fire Chief Charles Chapman said two people were being transported to the hospital with Class 2 injuries. The extent of the injuries was unknown, as was the cause of the accident. Part of Bushkill Drive was closed as crews cleaned up the accident and motorists were diverted onto the Northwood Avenue bridge over Bushkill Creek and into Palmer Township.

With no Hurricane Sandy, calls for Forks Township Fire Department return to normal levels.

Things returned to normal for the Forks Township Fire Department in November. After handling one month of calls in one day during Hurricane Sandy, the number of fire calls stabilized last month. Fire Chief Chuck Chapman reported that his department handled 37 calls in November. The department handled 31 calls for September, 25 in August and 36 in July. With Hurricane Sandy, the department handled 63 calls in October. For November, the calls took 266.56 manpower hours over 31.48 hours of time and involved the use of 53 units, the report states. The Forks Township Fire Department can thank Hurricane Sandy for its calls doubling in October from September. After handling 31 calls in September, Fire Chief Chuck Chapman reported that his department handled 63 calls in October. The department handled 31 calls for September, 25 in August and 36 in July.
