I have a mild case of dyslexia in which I frequently transpose numbers and mistake q’s for g’s and b’s for d’s when I read too fast. Growing up, I struggled with words but my parents read to me every night and encouraged me, and by about 9 or 10, I learned to love books. I haven’t been bored since. What a gift. Whether or not you’re in a position to give a kid the love of reading, you can at least give a child a book worth loving. Last year, "layaway angels" brought generosity and surprise to shoppers across the Lehigh Valley
Will a new wave a "layaway angels" hit stores this holiday shopping season? In 2011, a trend of anonymous shoppers paying off lawaways for strangers made headlines across the United States and in the Lehigh Valley. Layaway angels paid off at least $7,000 worth of purchases in Bethlehem last year. Tell us if you hear any reports of layaway angels in the Lehigh Valley. Send e-mail to susan.koomar@patch.com. Store managers chose layaways that were delinquent and that included children's toys, figuring the layaway angels would have the biggest impact by covering those purchases. The Bethlehem Parking Authority and ParkNow are offering free Saturday parking from November 24 through December 22 if you use this mobile app. What’s mobile parking? Call: Call the local pay by cell phone number with your cell phone which is listed on the meter sticker or nearby sign. App: Get the ParkNOW app on your smartphone. Text: Use a text message to stop/start your parking sessions. Just text the command Park followed by the location (city) and space number to 32075. Online: A personal account will be created for you when you register at www.goparknow.com. Easton, meanwhile will offer free parking a meters in the city's downtown on Saturdays during the holidays, beginning today through December 29.

I was cured of Black Friday shopping a few years ago. I stood in line at a big store waiting for it to open and when it did, everyone pushed and shoved The person behind me has a shopping cart and hit me in the back of the legs and I fell down.
