Palmer Neighbors Reclaim the Road to Nowhere

The Palmer Township Planning Commission allows two property owners to claim land once meant for a road.

Two Mine Lane Road homeowners in Palmer Township asked the Planning Commission Tuesday to expand their property lines into an unused right-of-way. The Commission agreed, with conditions. The Pigliacampis, Julius and Lynn, live at 1730 Mine Lane Road and Jodi Polomchak’s house is at 1720. Running between the properties is a right-of-way set aside 21 years ago when the land was developed. David Martin, a project manager for Keystone Consulting Engineers Inc. in Bethlehem, said the land was originally meant to be a street connecting Mine Lane with future development, but it was never built. The street would have been called “Fairview.” Martin filed the appeal to allow both homeowners to reclaim that land as part of their own properties. For …

Palmer to get the Largest Sheetz in the Lehigh Valley

Sheetz convenience store franchise gets approval from Palmer Township Planning Commission.

The Palmer Township Planning Commission approved the land development plan Tuesday night for a Sheetz convenience store along Route 248. The new convenience store will be one of three stores in an 18-acre development at the intersection of Northwood Road and Route 248 (Easton-Nazareth Highway), said Michael LaCesa, a director of real estate for Sheetz Inc. In order to get the plan through, however, a zoning ordinance had to be amended to allow convenience stores in that area. The land, which once was the home of a First Star Bank, is now zoned as a general commercial district. Work on the land has already begun with the excavation for a CVS Pharmacy.
